Nebuchadnezzar II decided to build the hanging gardens for his wife, Queen Amytis, who is from northern Iran. Amytis was filled with nostalgia and homesickness after saying goodbye to her homeland (Media) which had different landscapes compared to Babylon. Which made Nebuchadnezzar take it upon himself to create something that made his wife feel more at ease with her new home. The gardens were said to be an engineering marvel, featuring an intricate system of irrigation to supply water to the plants. While the exact location and existence of the Hanging Gardens are still debated among historians, the story of their creation continues to captivate the imagination.
